Living With Sweating Armpits

Thousands of people suffer from excessively sweating armpits. If you’re one of them read on, there are things you can do to help control armpit sweat.

 

Many people who suffer from excessive sweating armpits might not agree with that though. They spend their lives worrying about people seeing unsightly sweat stains on their clothes and dread the thought of embarrassing wet patches appearing under their arms. There’s no two ways about it, armpit sweating is embarrassing, but thousands of people are suffering in silence as we speak, worrying about sweat stains showing on their clothes, it really can make life a misery for many people.

Contrary to popular belief it often has nothing to do with cleanliness or how many times you shower, and it has nothing to do with using a deodorant, armpit sweat can be a clinical condition, but it is a clinical condition which can be treated and improved. In fact, armpit sweat is perfectly normal and absolutely necessary. It is one natural mechanism which the body uses to cool itself down when it becomes overheated through physical exercise, emotional stress or simply on an excessively hot day. It’s also an effective method of lubrication for our arms against the torso – sweating armpits aren’t only a bad thing.

There are lots of different reasons why some people clearly suffer more with excessive sweating armpitthan others. Often it is something which is easily identifiable – diet or fitness level for example – or it may be down to biological factors which are not so easy to spot. Some reasons for excessive armpit sweat could be obesity, stress, menopause (is it hot in here or is it me?) spicy food, puberty and panic attacks. One real shame is that constantly worrying about the problem of armpit sweat can actually make things much worse.

Embarrassing stains on clothes are only one bi-product of sweating armpits, the other which is often thought to be even worse news is the foul smell which is caused by a build up of bacteria and can make any problems even worse. Typically antiperspirants and deodorants only mask the problems and don’t really help to solve anything at all. Other relatively simple ways, however, can make a big difference.

Taking regular showers at frequent intervals can help the problem, but it’s also important to wear only loose fitting clothes so that the air can circulate around your body, you should always wear clothes made from natural fibers (cotton is best) and allow your skin to breathe. Another useful tip is to shave your armpits, this helps to keep the area clean, dry and fresh so the bacteria cannot breed so easily.

By using these natural remedies you may find that the problem is more under control, but if not there are some medical procedures available. If shop bought “off the shelf” type antiperspirants and deodorants are simply not strong enough then enquire at your local pharmacy and see if they have something a little stronger available. You might also find that your doctor or local health center can help, if you really feel that the problem is out of control and ruining your life. One thing is sure, don’t let sweating armpit problems ruin your life; there are ways to improve the situation.
