Seven U.K. health organizations, including Cancer Research U.K. and the National Osteoporosis Society, just lately made a joint announcement that the population needs to get far more sun.
WOW…something the Natural health movement has understood and been advocating for some time!
Turning on it’s head scare story warnings about the inherent dangers of sun exposure, the groups now cooperatively agree thathuman beings need a regular amount of exposure ...WITHOUT sunscreen.. in order to maintain ample blood levels of vitamin D.
Government warnings about the sun have kept millions of people out of it, or at least smothered in chemical-ridden sunscreens that block the essential vitamin D-producing ultraviolet (UV) rays from penetrating the skin.
Reams of research brought forth over the past several years has debunked this widely spread misnomer..while sunscreen manufacturers laugh all the way to the bank.. that the sun is dangerous, showing instead that it is absolutely vital and necessary to maintain good health.
Could it be the case that these societies research funding is largely or in part provided again by ‘Big Pharma’ explaining the incredibly slow and ‘low key release’ of such vital information?
The Osteoporosis Society is now intimating that older people whohave a tendency not to expose themselves to this natural source of vitamin D are laying themselves open to ‘brittle bone disease‘ in which this plays a significant role.
Some of the communications about sun exposure have been too negative, states Professor Rona Mackie, from the British Association of Dermatologists, “We’re now saying that exposure of at least around 15 minutes … without suncream, a number of times a week is in all probability a safe balance between sufficient vitamin D levels and any danger of skin cancer and would be beneficial to everyone”
Vitamin D deficiency isconnected to numerous diseases including osteoporosis, heart disease, autism, diabetes, muscle degradation and cancer.
Most people in the industrialized world, and now even in the developing world, are deficient because they spend very little time outdoors in natural sunlight and if and when they do, too many use huge amounts of sunscreen that not only filter what you don’t want too much of, but also the assimilation of this essential vitamin.
Studies have found that roughly 70 percent of whites and 97 percent of blacks are woefully deficient in vitamin D, even though this vitamin prevents 77 percent of all cancers, health authorities have been slow toadvise that the population increase their vitamin D intake through sun exposure.
